چکیده
Abstract Aim Current European guidelines recommend cholecystectomy for ultrasound proven gallbladder polyps based on size. Over-diagnosis of by conventional transabdominal may lead to unnecessary surgery. The aim this study is correlate the findings ‘polyps’ with histology removed specimens. Method Data from reports was collected over a 5-year period and cross-referenced patients undergoing laparoscopic same time-period. Results 60 who underwent were identified. age range 19–79 years. There 36 females 24 males. On imaging 30 (50%) had solitary polyp (size 2–24mm) multiple (largest size 4–13mm). indication or without gallstone disease in 32 (53%) incidental 28 (47%). Only 2/60 (3.3%) adenomatous (9mm 9.7mm ultrasound), whilst 18/60 (30%) pseudopolyps remaining 40 specimens, no lesion polypoidal type found. No specimens evidence dysplasia malignancy. Conclusion We propose that an abdomen inadequate modality alone diagnose require further MDT discussion as adjuncts decision making those referred consideration cholecystectomy.

Ultrasound diagnosis of gallbladder polyps.
The most frequent benign gallbladder polyps are cholesterol polyps. Next in frequency were adenomas, which may have malignant potential. The aim of this study was to assess the possibility of ultrasonography in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of cholesterol polyps compared to adenomas. Patients were examined during the period from October 2006. to December 2008. In Department of Ultras...
متن کاملLaparoscopic cholecystectomy for acalculous gallbladder disease.
Use of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) to treat patients with symptoms due to gallstone disease is well established. However, use of LC for patients with acalculous gallbladder disease remains controversial. In this study, we examined the use of hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) scans with cholecystokinin (CCK) infusion to identify patients with acalculous gallbladder disease who would ...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Cholecystectomy for Left-sided Gallbladder (Sinistroposition)
Transposition of the gallbladder to the left side without situs inversus viscerum is rare. These gallbladders are situated under the left lobe of the liver between Segment III and IV or on Segment III to the left of the falciform ligament. Because routine preoperative studies may not detect the anomaly, it may provide the surgeons with an unusual surprise during laparoscopy. Awareness of the un...
متن کاملLaparoscopic cholecystectomy for traumatic gallbladder perforation
In trauma, laparoscopic surgery is commonly utilized as a diagnostic rather than therapeutic measure (1). Its use is often negated because of exigency or limitations in visibility due to haemorrhage. In the present case, a 35-year-old male was involved in a motor vehicle collision and arrived haemodynamically stable with abdominal pain. Abdominal CT revealed liver laceration and active contrast...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Derotation and Cholecystectomy for Torsion Gallbladder
Torsion of the gallbladder is an unusual cause of gangrenous cholecystitis. Even with the advent of recent radiological imaging modalities, the preoperative diagnosis of this entity remains elusive. Herein, we present a case of gallbladder torsion in a 76-year-old lady who successfully underwent laparoscopic derotation and cholecystectomy.
